G Chakraborty is a BE in Electrical Engineering from JU and an MTech from IIT Kharagpur in Power System Engineering. His field of work was thermal hydraulics and dynamics of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). He had utilized his expertise to develop dynamic codes for analyzing the transients pertaining to design and safety analysis of NPPs. He is one of the pioneers in India to develop codes for transient analysis of NPPs in India. His work had been used by the NPCIL for modification of the existing PHWRs, design of new NPPs and also used for safety analysis of the existing and new PHWRs in India for the requirements of AERB regulatory safety review.

Then took an  Anti-submarine Frigate INS Kadmatt to visit Chittagong on a Goodwill Mission to The Newly liberated Country Bangladesh.
